Minette focuses on family law and is trained in the use of the collaborative law process. Minette is a member of the Mecklenburg County Collaborative Family Law Practice Group and was appointed to and serves on the Mecklenburg County Domestic Court Committee. An honors graduate from the University of North Carolina School of Law, she was recognized for her integrity, leadership and scholarship as an inductee into the Davis Society of UNC and earned the Advanced Family Law Award. She co-founded Child Action, an organization dedicated to children’s legal issues. Prior to her legal practice, Minette had a distinguished career in public service in which she served on the Charlotte City Council as Mayor Pro Tem; the National League of Cities’ Board of Directors; the Governor’s Urban Transportation Task Force; National Institute of Environmental Health Services Advisory Council; and the Hazardous Materials Advisory Committee to which she was appointed by then U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elizabeth Dole. She also testified before and negotiated a bill adopted by the US Congress. Minette was featured at the Levine Museum of the New South as one of the “Remarkable Women Who Made History” in Charlotte, North Carolina. Her papers are part of UNCC’s special collections archives. She also was CEO of Take-A-Break, Inc., a retail convenience store chain. Minette has been rated as having high to very high legal ability and very high ethical standards as established by a survey of confidential opinions from area judges and attorneys.
